Compassion, empathy, understanding and trust

Of utmost importance is creating a trusting therapeutic relationship between the client and counsellor. Gabrielle takes a person-centered therapeutic approach, where you, the client, are seen as a person, rather than as a problem or a list of symptoms. She provides a non-judgmental, safe and confidential space for you to openly discuss your concerns and worries. Together you will identify different ways to think about a problem, better ways to cope, identify tangible strategies to try, or simply be heard and understood.

Gabrielle understands the impact of anxiety, feelings of depression, uncertainty and the deep feeling of loneliness which comes with loss. When you experience the loss of a loved one, whether it be person or pet, she can be there with compassion, and can give you the space to mourn the loss.

During many years working with cancer patients, survivors and carers, Gabrielle has helped her clients understand the impact of a cancer diagnosis. Clients may find it difficult to cope with the shock of diagnosis, they may experience a loss of control or may want to regain a sense of safety and hope.
